Indulging
in a summer cocktail is a guilty pleasure of mine. I really REALLY love them. But sometimes its nice to have a drink that reminds of you a cocktail without the alcohol and calories.
I'm really excited to be posting this because I have personally cut way back on my alcohol consumption. I think of it more like a weekend treat, and even at that, I limit what I have. Making Mocktails is a great way to give yourself a break between alcoholic drinks, or maybe you don't drink alcohol at all!
For my sugar, I use Lakanto Monkfruit Natural Sugar Substitute. It is the BEST sugar substitute I have ever used.
The first time I tried it was in an Oatmilk latte and I seriously thought it was real sugar. I never like artificial sweeteners in coffee, so I was impressed. Next I used it in banana muffins, A+.
It's granular and measures just like regular sugar. For muddling drinks, it's perfect!
You can buy this at many super marks and online from amazon, linked above.
ps) I'm not sponsored by them, I just really love the product! If you happen to get another brand, just make sure it's blended with Erythritol!
Spicy Jalapeno Mockarita
- 3 TB lime juice
- 2 oz water
- 2 slices jalapeno
- 1 1/2 tsp erythritol monk fruit sweetener or liquid stevia
- 1 TB orange juice
- pinch of salt
- put everything into a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice and shake vigorously.
- Fill a glass with ice and pour over.
Strawberry Balsamic Basil Spritzer
- 4 oz water
- 2 TB lemon juice
- 4 large strawberries, quartered
- 1/4 tsp balsamic vinegar
- 2 tsp erythritol monk fruit sweetener or liquid stevia
- 3 large basil leaves
- put everything into a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice and shake vigorously.
- Fill a glass with ice and pour over.
- Top with a little seltzer or club soda
Classic Mock Mojito
(sometimes you just don't mess with perfection)
- 5 large mint leaves
- 2 tsp erythritol monk fruit sweetener
- 2 TB lime juice
- club soda
1. In a flat bottom glass add monk fruit sweetener and mint. Muddle for about 45 seconds, really breaking up the mint
2. Fill glass with ice and add lemon juice and club soda. Give a quick stir with a swizzle stick.
That concludes my round up of my favorite summer Mocktails. JUST REMEMBER, you can make most Cocktails into Mocktails by subbing the alcohol for water. If it calls for a liquor like Cointreau, try using orange juice instead!
